Winter Schools

In the academic year 2012-2013, six university institutes for Finno-Ugric/Uralic studies in Vienna, Szeged, Munich, Hamburg, Tartu and Helsinki joined forces to organise International Winter Schools in Finno-Ugric Studies. The 1st Winter School took place in Vienna in February 2013, the 2nd Winter School in Szeged in January 2014. One year later, the universities of Turku and Uppsala joined the consortium for the 3rd Winter School organised in Munich.

Winter Schools are intensive study activities (6 days) hosted by individual universities. Learning included current topics presented by specialists from different universities, intensive workshops and presentation of students’ works. Teachers also focused on aspects of practical application of theoretical knowledge such as translation, knowledge management and intercultural transmission.

Validation

BA and MA students had their participation credited through the ECTS. The evaluation and grading was accepted by all participating institutes.
